REC.ON garden thrives on carefully selected plant guilds (companion planting). Each species plays a role in creating a balanced microclimate: deep-rooted plants pull up minerals from lower soil layers, taller canopies offer thermal shade, and aromatic herbs act as natural barriers against pests. The entire garden operates completely free of synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides.

The system is strictly integrated with our proprietary Smart Water Recovery installation and a traditional well. The closed loop of organic matter relies on a continuously hydrated compost system that processes waste from the farm, residency, and gallery, as well as the active presence of chickens. These birds act as active biological vectors—processing food scraps, naturally aerating the soil, and enriching it with nutrients. Cultivation is carried out without commercial production pressure, and harvested crops go directly to the needs of the REC.ON residency and its guests.

Local Heritage
On the REC.ON land at the foot of the mountains grow centuries-old olive, almond, fig, and pomegranate trees. Seasonal fruit harvesting is carried out using traditional, local, manual methods. The harvested olives are sent to a small local mill for pressing, while the remaining crops are processed into preserves, supporting and preserving the cultural heritage of the Los Vélez region.
For our residents and guests this space serves as a mature, practical education center in regenerative agriculture. Mountain trails lead directly from the residency, inviting hikes through a landscape inhabited by wild mountain goats, birds, and other wildlife. Along these paths, visitors can collect wild aromatic plants such as sage, rosemary, and thyme. Participating in field workshops, mountain hikes, the unhurried manual peeling of almonds, and joint preserve-making workshops provides a practical lesson in resource awareness and a deeply rooted mindfulness practice—work based on focus, presence, and respect for human labor and the gifts of the earth.

• Year-Round: Care for the BIO garden, planting, natural soil work, and ongoing harvesting of fresh vegetables and herbs for residency life.
•  Summer: Artisanal preserve-making workshops using summer harvests.
•  September – October: Traditional almond harvesting.
• December – January: Seasonal olive harvesting.
• September – June: Mountain hikes combined with foraging wild herbs (sage, rosemary, thyme) and personal regeneration surrounded by nature.
