Price included:
- Stay at private single- or double-occupancy room in the coliving rural house
- Morning delicious coffee from the coffee machine+ homemade breakfast with vegetables from the organic garden (6 times per week)
- Access to ART & Design Gallery on site – co-working space, shared with other residents
- Access to the workshop space (arranged individually)
- Access to common areas (equipped kitchen, living room, chillout areas and art installations on the grounds, permaculture garden)
- Access to Organic Garden on-site
- Residence bills, STARLINK wifi, free access to laundry facilities
- Regular cultural events on-site – live concerts, DJ sets, bonfires, culinary workshops, team games, thematic meetings.
- Visit to the historic city of Velez Rubio, sightseeing, local mercado and cultural attractions
The price does not include:
- Travel expenses to and from Vélez Rubio (flights, local transportation).
- Meals (except for breakfasts as listed above).
- Art materials and personal supplies.
- Individual artistic tools and materials (canvases, brushes, paints, etc.) Artists can order materials online directly to the Residence address (artists place orders themselves).
- Health, travel, or liability insurance.
- Visa or legal documentation, if applicable.
Artist & Writing Residency Program – REC.ON Ecovillage – Andalusia
The REC.ON Artist & Writing Residency invites visual artists, writers, researchers, journalists, curators, and PhD candidates seeking a peaceful and inspiring space for focused creative work and reflection.
The residency is part of REC.ON Ecovillage, a rural sustainability project launched in 2019 in the village of Bolaimi, nestled at the foot of the Sierra María–Los Vélez mountains. The setting offers a chance to live slowly and create deeply — surrounded by clean air, mountain silence, and wide open views that expand the mind. This program gives you the opportunity to live and work creatively in close contact with nature, mountain landscapes and true ecology, sustainable art, and at the same time become part of an international, open-minded and creative community.
Residents are hosted in a restored rural apartment with access to both indoor and outdoor workspaces, exhibition opportunities (on-site: Art & Design Gallery).

Facilities & Creative Support:
- Private rooms – single or double, in a restored Andalusian co-living apartment
- Freshly ground coffee and homemade breakfasts from the organic garden (6 times a week).
- Peace and quiet close to nature – perfect for writing, painting, designing, and all things creative.
- Flexible workspace within the building (Apartment, Coworking space in the Gallery, Studio) and at the foot of the mountains (tables, chairs, hammocks, places with a view).
- Permaculture garden – with a workspace surrounded by organic vegetables and mountain views.
- Tree platform installation – a unique place for creation, relaxation, and meditation.
- A workshop with tools for basic wood and metal processing, as well as creative waste.
- Organized on-site: shared meals, cultural events: presentations, concerts, bonfires & eco sauna (winter), workshops: permaculture, upcycling design, culinary.
- Optional meetings with Andalusian artists – including visits to their studios.
- Hospitality and care from hosts, Paulina and Bart – artisans and artists creating upcycled design
- Mountain hikes starting directly at the Residence.
- Weekly Saturday trip to the local market in Vélez Rubio, followed by tapas at a local bar or sightseeing.
- Transfer – pick-up from the Vélez-Rubio bus stop – to the REC.ON Residence
- At the end of the stay (4 weeks or longer), the Residency organizes an exhibition or presentation of texts created during the program, in the on-site REC.ON Gallery.The Residency also collaborates with local associations, cultural institutions, and the Vélez-Rubio Town Hall.
Transport to the Residency:
By car: 2 h from the nearest airport in Alicante.
By public transport: ALSA bus to the Vélez-Rubio bus stop.
We will arrange personal pickup of the resident from the Vélez-Rubio bus stop and transfer to the residence.
Local transport: Taxi service available, also Residence arrange regular shopping trips from the residence to the city.
